primer colour depends very much on what you are painting. If you check out Sorastro's stuff (link earlier on here) you will see how he uses different colours for different effects. The aim is to choose a colour that saves you having to paint parts of the model, or that provides a good dark colour to provide shade. When I paint my fantasy goblins, orcs etc I usually use brown as that sorts out the fiddly belts, boots etc. If you want to go for just one colour try white (though you will have to paint just about everything on top of it) or one of the zombie skin tones. Let us know how you get on.

The Army Painter washes are similar to the Citadel (GW) ones and dry matte The Army Painter spray primers are excellent and I use them all the time. They are a mix of proper acrylic paint (same as those in their dropper bottles) and the primer colour itself and can substitute for a base colour after applying the primer. Just make sure to give them a very light covering, let that dry and give them a 2nd light coat. This caan save a lot of time in painting if you prime the models with the main colour they will end up being. For example, painting Abyssals for Kings of War, the models are mostly red so using their red primer can stand in for the red base colour you would normally have to use later Also, in regard to brushes I also use Army Painter one. I only use the Regiment, Detail and Character brushes when painting miniatures (even big ones like Forge World Greater Daemons!) and around 95% of my painting is done with the Regiment Brush, the others being reserved for tiny details. A quick note also, if you have a goof tip on your brush even a Regiment Brush can be used to apply some very fine details

Any suggestions on what color primer I should start out with, I'm a noob. I plan on picking up the Army Painter Mega Paint Set II, which comes with a few brushes. Any more suggestions of what else should I order? Is that enough brushes? I know this set comes with some washes, do I need more? Also, the set mentions metallic ink does anyone know if it comes with metallic gold and metallic silver? There was also the mention of the mat spray and i believe that this one comes with one? Sorry for all the questions, appreciate the help! Well, that Mega Paint set will be more than enough! The Anti-Shine Matt Varnish is a nice product, I always hit my minis with that (or an airbrush coat of matt varnish) to help seal and protect the finished mini a little further. The brushes will get the job done as well… very nice set. In terms of what color primer to get, TWD: All Out War Miniatures are a little tricky, because they are such a varied range… However, I think that the “Necrotic Flesh” would be a good choice for the zombies (this will be the majority of the minis you have anyway) and perhaps the classic “Matt Black” for the survivors or maybe even “Barbarian Flesh,” because skin tones are a little hard to pull off most times. When I was on the Army Painter site, I did noticed they have a package put together for Zombicide at the moment, I would recommend this set for anyone looking to get some supplies together for their TWD minis, hell I might just pick this up myself as well if I can find it in a Canadian Store: shop.thearmypainter.com/bundledeal.php

The majority of my paint are Vallejo paints as well and I find them good as well: www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/game-color/family/18When I get a change I will post up some links of the major miniature specific paint brands that I have had experience with…

Thanks for the feedback! Any suggestions on what I should practice on? Since this is my first, I didn't want to actually start on the TWD figures I figured I would get some practice in before hand.

You can pick up loads of second hand minis on eBay at very cheap prices. If you are really not bothered, just go for anything, but you might find it useful to experiment on zombies, there are loads of different ones out there, even Mantic do some pretty decent fantasy and SF zombies.

I recommend getting some cheap minis. Mantic and Studio Miniatures sell sprues of mins very cheaply (£2 or so for a few miniatures) and the zombies and ghouls in those ranges will give you practuce for the undead. If you want to practice different clothing and living minis in general then I suggest hunting down some cheap Bretonnians and Empire minis for Warhammer since those can be found at low prices on Ebay. heck, Mantic Orcs are sold by the sprue as well and you can paint them with human skin tones instead of green if you are practicinf and they have quite a bit of bare skin on them, same goes for 40k Orks on Ebay and if you are lucky you can get about 10 for around £5 Also Ebay Apocalypse Survivors: The Men and Apocalypse Urvivors: The Women, plys Zombie Vixens. They Re more expensive, but if you are fast you can still get the original boxes by Wargames Factory which are boxes of 30 minis for around £15 - 20 a go

Does someone habe experience with the armypainter quickshades? Where you just dip your models into the shade. Is it any good? Or should one stick to applying it with brushes? I use the dark shade on my walkers. The only thing I don't do is dip them i use an old brush to put the shade where I want it to go, after that I leave it 24 hours to dry and then use army painter anti shine to take off any shine that occurs.

I have tried this out as too, works well. I also would highly recommend the army painter anti shine spray afterwards as well.
