We all play thenm, not even the most hardcore zom freak can concentrate on the undead 24 hours a day and needs a break from time to time, so what tabletop (wargames, board games, card games, etc) do you play when you are not planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse? What are your favourite top 5? Reviews? House rules you use? Glorious tales of victory or harrowing tales of crushing defeat at the hands of someone who promised to have your back and then half of Europe launched its nukes at you and wiped you off the map? (I am looking at you Nuclear War, grr).

For me it’s mostly 40k, and Warmachine.. about to start Frostgrave very soon..
Had a fun moment recently in a friendly Warmachine game, it was a 3 player game and on one of my turns I affected the third players warcaster with the continues effect corrosion, which removes one damage point per turn, unless he rolls a 1 or 2 on a D6 for it to fade away… Anyway, he was down to one health left and on my turn if I just stayed on the objective I would have won the game in that turn, but I stepped off it so I could see him roll anything but a one or two and die… then the second player went, and steped of another objective that would have won him the game in that turn, all just to see the other player die from corrosion! Finally… when the third player's turn came around he rolled… a one and didn’t die… it was good fun to watch.
Actually he is a member on this board!

My 3 favourites are Spartacus (so much back stabbing), Sons of Anarchy (more back stabbing) and Archer (insults galore) you get the drift. Each brings something different in game play. Spartacus is probably the best of the games but I have mastered Sons and win more than 80% of the games I play.
I also have a 13,000pt Eldar army, Ogre Kingdoms, Wood Elves and Undead armies and just started playing Dreadball xtreme but still early days.

My current favourite non-zombie gamers are:
Gloom Small World Sheriff of Nottingham Love Letter Roll For It Qwirkle Smash Up Blood Rage (this is catually higher up the list but I didnJt place them in any real order)
They are really good fun and most can be played with both adults and children, something my friends, their kids and my nieces and nephews really appreciate.

My best game of Sons was when we were playing 5 players and I manipulated the other players into attacking each other leaving me free to take the territories that I wanted. The game (which is won by by cash generated) finished with me on 104 and no other player above 26. So wanted to tell them I had won but will keep my devious ways for future games.

I had a gamr of Dead of Winter where the betrayer didn't have to do anything, they willed use managing to get everyone one of their characters bitten over the course of the game when rolling the exposure dice. It was a really funny game and we'd accused her of being the traitor due to their dice rolls but couldn't exile them for rolling badly hahaha.

Go minis games! Dropzone Commander, X-wing, Star Wars Armada.
Dexterity games are my other bread and butter: Catacombs, Crokinole, and Flick em Up
Just hit Forbidden Stars the other night too and while it was long for our first game, it was pretty enjoyable.

I am terrible at dexterity games so I am not a fan of playing them, but I get a good laugh watching others play them. I am hoping to get peeple in my area into Dropzone, but I have Dropfleet coming at some point and should convert someone to that since a few people I game with enjoy spaceship combat and Dropfleet adds a new element with ground resources. Currently I am playing a bit of Dungeon Saga solo as I work out a campaign of my own, well at least when I'm not attempting to assemble my stuff from Deathwatch Overkill (slow going with my prominent hand messed up due to a frozen shoulder) and drawing up characters for TWD AOW lol

Had a games night at a buddys a few days ago. Played munchkin, secret hitler and talisman (talisman with a bunch of expansions), was a good night.
I always find myself under utilising my characters abilities in talisman, i find with most games i need 1 or 2 actual games to kind of figure out how to play the thing im playing.

I hear the current edition of Talisman is much easier to play than it used to be, I have the first 3 editions and they were really complicated to get a hang of, lol. I find it weird that they have the current Talisman slated as 4th edition though since a friend of mine has 5th edition from eons ago, lol!

Yeah it dosnt really play super hard, its mainly just rng dice rolls and keeping your fingers crossed combined with not picking a completely shit character at the start, there really isnt much balance between them, some are way too powerful and some are so broken and bad its not worth playing them. Who knows how they decide on what edition it is...it isnt chronological thats for sure.

Advanced Squad Leader...I've been playing it since 1986, and attending international tournaments since 2010. My first love in boardgaming and probably the only game I've never ever sold, even in the bad times.
